SMU requires contractors to register their drones and pilots and file a flight plan with SMU before flying. The process helps SMU communicate with first responders and key stakeholders about drones operating on campus.
To complete the SMU Drone Flight Permit, applicants must provide the required information for all three components within a single permit: Pilot Registration, Drone Registration, and Flight Plan.
In the Supporting Documents section, upload proof of the drone’s FAA registration, pilot’s Part 107 Certificate, complete flight plan, and proof of insurance, along with any other necessary supporting documents.
If you are a business or contractor, please be sure to upload a copy of your Certificate of Insurance and SMU Contract before submitting the permit for approval.
